But, as much as I liked the book I found it dragged a bit at some points, and was very wordy, and confusing sometimes. But over all, I really enjoyed Benedict Arnold.
Benedict Arnold was a book that I really enjoyed reading. At the beginning, it was a little bit boring, but towards the end, it came through. I really liked hearing about how all those soldiers had to trek through the wilderness. It really opened my eyes to how fortunate we are. Today, we can just drive some place, or if we are in war, you can use a buggy, or a jeep, or something like that, but they had to trek many miles, even before they reached the battlefield. I also think that although his greed was a contributing factor to his treachery, it was ultimately the lack of respect he got for risking his life that turned him to the other side. In the end, Benedict Arnold was a little slow at the beginning, but eventually entertained me for the most part.
Benedict Arnold was not a book I enjoyed reading. I felt like Benedict was a completely "see through" person, because in all of his military accomplishments, all he ever wanted was fame for his "good deeds" that mostly helped the U.S. win the war against Britain. Although his exploits really did help us, (like Alex said), his greed really showed out against his personality and who he really was as a person. Also, the fact that he took war more seriously than his own family and sons bothered me to the point where I no longer had any respect for him. During the book, I despised Arnold so much that I actually found myself rooting for the British to win the war, until I remembered that we won, this book is set in History, and I live in the U.S. Overall, Benedict Arnold bothered me so much that his character ruined the book for me. The book was pretty good, but there was too much war and fighting, and in my perspective, that got quite repetitive. When Arnold actually did become a traitor, I wasn't that surprised because it seemed like he was building himself up and psyching himself up for his big debut.
Overall I think the book "Notorious Benedict Arnold" was one of the best books I have ever read. I love history books and books based on wars. Learning about the revolutionary war really triggered me to read those kinds of books.
I really like history books too, but i though that this history books was not as interesting as it could have been. I tend to like them when they have tons of interesting facts about the event and when I know something about the event before hand because, then i can compare the facts. This book had a few, like how Benedict Arnold went up to Canada to get some cannons from a British fort. Unfortunately, this book because more boring at the end after betraying the Americans so I slightly disagree with you
I really enjoyed reading Benedict Arnold, and found it very fascinating to know more about the time the british were in america.
